How do I change someone's password?

This video demonstrates how to perform a password change on another user's account in the NCEdCloud IAM service. (Depending on your role, the tab names and available actions shown in the video may be different from what you see.)

Note: For PSUs that have opted in to QR codes for students, note that the QR badge will need to be re-printed if a student's password is changed.

  • Click on Profiles on the left menu
  • Click on the modules dropdown arrow in the top navigation bar
  • Click on People in the dropdown menu
  • Navigate to the appropriate tab for the user type of the user whose password you are changing. (The name of the tab will vary based on your role).

  • Use the search bar to search for the user by user ID or name.
  • Click the check box next to the user's record and click the Change Password button

  • Click the Change Password button at the bottom of the page. Click Yes to confirm.
  • In the Change Password popup, type a new password for the user in the first text box that meets the criteria stated in their password policy
  • Type the password in the second text box to confirm it.
  • If the new password meets the criteria in the user's password policy and the passwords are the same between the two text boxes, green check marks will appear.
  • In the Change Password side panel,type a new password for the user in the first text box that meets the criteria stated in their password policy
  • Type the password in the second text box to confirm it
  • If the new password meets the criteria in the user's password policy, all the checks will be green under "Your new password MUST be" and there will be no red exclamation points under "Do NOT use"
  • If the passwords are the same between the two text boxes, the Save button will become available
  • Alternately, if the user is a student, you will have the option to reset their password to its default value by checking the box "Set Password to Default Value". The default password is visible in the student's Profile Details
  • For security best practices, check the box for "User Must Change Password at Next Login" and click Save.
